About
Noel Mengel is a journalist with deep experience as a writer and editor. He works as a freelance writer and reviewer for newspapers and magazines and writes publicity material, bios and press releases for Australian music artists. He has written on topics from sport to real estate, agriculture and contemporary music. He worked at The Courier-Mail newspaper in Brisbane for 25 years as a reporter, sub-editor and features writer and was the paper's contemporary music writer for 20 years. He won the Queensland Premier's Literary Award for best unpublished manuscript in 2010 and his novel RPM was published by University of Qld Press in 2011. In 2017 he received the Grant McLennan Lifetime Achievement Award at the Queensland Music Awards for his contribution to music in Queensland.

Mentored young journalists as a tutor and guest lecturer in feature writing at the Queensland University of Technology. He is a qualified teacher of English as a second language (TAFE Cert IV) and teaches international students.
